Mark Nash

Mark Nash is a lifelong musician whose journey with the guitar began at the age of nine and quickly evolved into a lifelong passion. Immersed in music from an early age thanks to his parents, Mark’s universe has always revolved around sound and expression. By his teens, formal lessons and a growing list of musical heroes—including Randy Rhoads, Jimmy Page, Ace Frehley, Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Alex Lifeson, and many others—helped shape the versatile and powerful style he’s known for today. Since 1979, Mark has been an active force in the live music scene, continually refining his craft and carrying forward the spirit of rock.

For Mark, tone is everything. After years of searching through countless mainstream pickups, he grew frustrated that he could never quite capture the sound he heard in his head—the pure, commanding rock voice he envisioned. That search ended when he began collaborating with Jeffrey Donovan. Together, they developed the “Rock Nash Monster” humbucker set, a signature design that now powers nearly all of Mark’s guitars. Known for its consistency, punch, and musicality, the Rock Nash Monster has not only become central to his sound but has also gained popularity among fellow players who’ve experienced it firsthand.

With Donovan Pickups, Mark finally found the tone he had spent decades chasing. Confident, consistent, and unmistakably his own, his sound now defines every performance. As his wife jokingly put it, “It only took you 48 years to find the tone you wanted.” For Mark Nash, that tone has become a reality—and with it, a renewed passion for creating and sharing music without compromise.

"What I like about Donovan Pickups is that they are consistent in sound and tone. I want that same tone from all my guitars because it gives me confidence as a player that I can do whatever I want on any guitar, and it will be consistent and give me the sound I hear in my head. Donovan Pickups is the ONLY private pickup maker who was willing to work with me to achieve what I needed and wanted. In my opinion, Donovan Pickups is the best pickup company out there." - Mark Nash
